Watch The Moment A Drive Thru Employee Leaps To The Aid Of A Choking Boy

Sometimes the difference between life and death is a split second and a cool head. Often, those at the center of the trouble are too panicked to make the decisions that need to be made.

Imagine yourself in this situation.

You're a parent in the driver's seat with your six-year-old in the backseat and you've decided to pick up some food from Chick-fil-A.

You make your order and creep along down the drive thru lane behind other cars. You're driver's side is right up close to the building, because you need to be able to reach the service windows.

As we all know, children are masters of getting themselves into trouble.

So as you're waiting in the line of cars, you glance in the rearview mirror and realize that your little boy has managed to get tangled in his seat belt and he's suffocating.

That's what happened to a mom in Hall County, Georgia.

As soon as she noticed, she began to yell for help. Remember, she couldn't get out through the driver's door and probably couldn't twist and reach back easily either.

But that day, fate was smiling down on her because Logan Simmons was working at the drive thru window that day.

He didn't even hesitate, leaping out the window to the ground below and rushing to help.

He also happened to have a pocketknife on him.

That meant that he was able to quickly cut through the seat belt, freeing the child.

"You could see he was turning red and losing pigmentation in his face," he told WSB-TV.

Proving that his calm response is normal for him, he didn't brag about it at all.

According to his mom, Teri, he didn't even mention it right away upon getting home.

"He'd been home for a couple of hours and he said nonchalantly, 'I saved a kid's life today,' and I was like 'What?'"

While the incident was shocking, the mother of the child called about an hour later to personally thank Logan.

Some might wonder why she didn't do so at the time, but it's likely that between panic and worrying about her little boy, the mom was understandably distracted.

Once the local news learned of Logan's heroism, of course they wanted to share it.

And the restaurant was able to provide them with the security camera footage that shows exactly how quickly Logan jumped into action.

"I do feel like a hero," he said, and he really should.
