'Moo' The Dachshund's Patterned Coat Makes Him Look Like A Mini Dalmatian

As a kid, and even today if I'm being honest, I've always wanted a pet cow. However, my unwillingness to move to the country is a bit of a roadblock.

This little pup, a dachshund named Moo with a beautifully unique coat, is probably the closest I could get to a real cow. He's cute and he has the spots, that's enough for me!

Another day, another adorable pet taking the internet by storm.

This time in the form of a beautifully patterned dachshund named Moo, or @moo_in_miami! Currently sitting at almost 60k followers, this little guy has a traditionally patterned head with black and tan fur, but the rest of his body is white with black speckles, making him look closer to his distant Dalmatian relatives.

This trait is called piebald, and can be seen in many species of animals.

Horses, snakes, birds, even humans can have piebald features! It's created when an animal has white, or unpigmented, spots on a pigmented background, be it in fur, scales, or feathers.

Moo's owner, Victoria Hoffman, says his unique coat turns a lot of heads.

"He is a unique piebald because he has heavy ticking, black spots on his white coat, and he also has a pure black and tan head. So, it looks like his body doesn't match his head," she explained to LadBible, describing what makes her pup so special.

"Lots of people think he is wearing a coat or pajamas at first, and they're surprised to find that it's actually just his natural coat."

Of course, it's not just his fur that makes him so popular, he also has a great personality!

Hoffman goes on about Moo's quirks and traits that make him so lovable, "He has lots of attitude and is super cuddly and sweet as well. He loves to hoard his toys in one spot, watermelon and almonds are his favourite treats, and he loves to take naps on his back under his bed.

"I never get bored or lonely having Moo around."

Moo was brought into Hoffman's life during the pandemic last year, who had no idea he'd garner so many fans.

"My boyfriend and I have always wanted a dachshund. I don't think that we would've gotten a dog if it weren't for Covid because we wouldn't have been home as much."

She adds, "It's true that blessings and joy can still come out of hard times. Moo has been just that."
