We've heard about white privilege and celebrity privilege. But what about daddy privilege?
This is term used to describe how men receive praise for doing the normal duties that are expected of parents.
After one woman witnessed her husband being praised for something she does EVERY WEEK, she refused to be silent. Her viral video on the topic needs to be a PSA!
She's the owner of BluffCakes bakery in Memphis, Tennessee. She's also a wife and mother to her seven-year-old son, Mason, and a six-month-old, named Theodore.
It was on her TikTok account, @chloebluffcakes, that she blew the whistle on "daddy privilege."
"You all know if you've been following me for a while that I'm a business owner," she began in her video that's been viewed more than a million times.
She went on to explain that her bakery requires that she buys certain wholesale ingredients at a place called Restaurant Depot every week.
And as a working mother, Chloe has to juggle bringing her children along.
"You've seen me do videos of it before where I'm, like, wearing him (Theodore) or was massively pregnant buying 400 pounds of flour and 100 pounds of butter," she said.
She then went to explain what happened when her husband had the day off work and decided to grab the supplies for her. He also had the baby that day.
The reaction to a man caring for his own child was shocking.
"Mind you, those same people see me there every single week. I was recognized by one of the cashiers. She's like, 'Hey, do you have a TikTok?' 'Yeah, yeah I do...'"
"Just a woman doing woman things, busting her ass. But my husband, my husband wears the baby and he goes to Restaurant Depot for mommy's business and it's, 'Oh my god, look at you! Oh my god, you work so hard.'"
"Somebody walked past him and said, 'Oh my god, that's a whole-ass baby!' Yeah, it's his... He's literally not a hero. He's just a father, just a parent, doing the same [expletive] I do every week," she concluded in the video.
"The bar is literally on the ground for fathers. It's sad," a comment that received over 100k likes read.
"Greatness is expected of women but are somehow never appreciated for it," another wrote. "LOUDER," Chloe replied.
"My husband was seen on ONE aisle alone with our twins and was praised by 5 people. I shop ALONE weekly and it's crickets. A$$hats," one wrote.
A second mother shared that her husband was told "that's so nice of him" for BABYSITTING his own children.
Other dads in the comments shared how they feel uncomfortable with the attention they receive for doing the bare minimum.
"I change a diaper and get praise like im father of the year, but the mother goes through BIRTH, feeds it and takes care of it and nothing?! Total bs."
