Experts have a lot to say about a lot of different things — they're experts, that's kind of their whole thing. A lot of the time, their advice is regarded as being too extreme, or not helpful, especially when it comes to how we parent our kids.
However, a series of children's experts have spoken about the dangers of this new toy and i think it's worth a listen.
Of course, there's the actual Peleton bike. Then there's the sweat. The astronomical cost. The instructors who have become exercise popstars essentially. That commercial from 2019.
Sure, I understand kids want to "be like mom and dad" on their own little bike, but to me, it seemed like it took away all the parts of bike rides that kids love.
Being able to ride with friends through the neighborhood is what childhood is all about!
Now, experts are weighing in on what they think of the children's toy.
"It just feels so bogus to me," said Roberta Golinkoff, a University of Delaware professor who studies child development. "And it doesn’t feel like something that kids will use a lot."
"Kids want to be part of the real world. A stationary bike doesn’t prepare them for anything but moving their legs in a circular motion."
It's clear parents will have to use their own discretion when it comes to this toy, and for almost $200, it seems like a pricey choice at that!
