Reese Witherspoon’s Daughter Ava Opens Up About Her Sexuality: 'Gender Is Whatever'

Reese Witherspoon: you know her, you love her.

But, chances are, you may not know much about her daughter, which is understandable. But now, Ava Philippe is making headlines for opening up about her sexuality online.

She did this during an Instagram Q&A.

You all know Reese Witherspoon.

I can't imagine you'd be reading this article otherwise.

But just in case: she's one of the biggest stars in the world, known for her romantic comedies, her TV dramas.

She's also just an all around good person.

People love her because she really just seems like an absolute sweetheart, and seems to be raising her children to have the same kind values that she has.

Although she's a major star now who spreads nothing but love online, once upon a time, she was as confused as the rest of us.

Witherspoon once opened up about how she was raised, and how she was able to use that to her advantage in her show Big Little Lies.

'Big Little Lies', along with 'The Morning Show' tackle a lot of current social issues that people face day-to-day.

So it makes sense that by doing the first, Reese would be prompted to ask herself questions about how she was raised, and the kind of person she wanted to be now.

She opened up about the fact that she really didn't know much about social issues when she was growing up.

"That great experience of being able to look at a time that was actually 30 years ago and think: 'I was a teenager then,' " Witherspoon said at the time.

It made her wonder what she had done as a teenager before she came to LA in order to pursue her career in Hollywood.

"What did my mom say about sexuality, race, class? What were the things that I was told that maybe were true or not true? How was I insensitive?"

"I didn’t understand what homosexuality was," she said.

"My grandparents didn’t explain it. My parents didn’t explain it. I had to learn from somebody I met on an audition in Los Angeles."

Obviously, all of that is pretty understandable.

But Reese Witherspoon's daughter Ava Phillipe is growing up with a very different mom, a very different mindset, and during a very different time.

So any question she has, gets answered.

But you better make sure that anything you say is respectful because Ava Phillipe is not here to hold back.

She has no time for any bigoted comments that may come her way.

She made that abundantly clear over the last few days.

She took to Instagram to talk about her sexuality and then shut down any hateful comments that she received later on.

22-year-old Ava got real about her love life during a fan Q&A on Instagram.

After the fan asked whether or not she liked boys or girls, Ava responded, "I'm attracted to...people! (Gender is whatever),"

Unfortunately, when you put something out on the internet, you open it up to EVERYONE.

The same was true here, as many people began to flood her comment section on random photos to share their hurtful and bigoted opinions about her comment.

But she was NOT having it.

She immediately shut down any of the trolls who were trying to make her feel bad.

“Quick reminder: I can & will block profiles commenting bigoted/hateful messages under my posts,” the star wrote.

She continued:

“My Instagram profile is not a place for cruelty/hate speech & I intend to do what I can to keep it that way. Peace & love.”

Good for you queen! SAY IT LOUDER!

Ultimately, Ava's sexuality is personal and whatever she chooses to share with her followers is up to her.

I'm just happy to see she's not standing around to tolerate any hate. Good for her!

It seems to me like she's growing up into the same fantastic woman that her mother is!
