I don't think I have to tell you that home renovations are stressful endeavors. You never know what might go wrong or whether that simple job could double in price. So it's best to be prepared for anything and everything.

Sadly, these homeowners were caught off guard and paid dearly for it. These examples here are the epitome of renovation jobs gone wrong.

1. This Unfortunate Occurrence

Here's one thing you definitely want to stay on top of when doing a house reno, and that would be your electrical work. Otherwise, instead of beautifying your home, you could find yourself calling the fire department.

2. This Painting Accident

No, this is definitely not how you go about painting a house. I wonder how this unlucky person is going to explain this accident to the homeowners now. I wouldn't want to be around for that conversation.

3. This Safety Issue

Um, excuse me? What do we have here? I don't think I have to tell you that taking a shower here could be hazardous to your health. Who's the genius that thought this would be okay?

4. This Steep Incline

Okay, who's the genius who thought this would be a good idea? Um, I can see how you can easily get down, but coming up can be quite a different story, no? This method here is a new one.

5. This Oxymoron

I totally get it, it's very convenient to have an en-suite bathroom. However, I would have to say something about one that looks like this. I think there was something lost in translation here. Don't you think so?

Even though you think there's an easy fix for something, it doesn't necessarily mean you should go for it. I would be so ticked if I had to deal with this toilet situation in my home.

Wowza! That is not a good ceiling patch-up. Am I right? Apparently, somebody was genius enough to use duct tape to keep it all together. Needless to say, that pretty much had to go. Good riddance.

Whoa! Just what do we have here? Why would anybody think this was at all acceptable is pretty baffling and funny at the same time. How would you feel if somebody did this to your front porch?

When your boss asks you to install a ceiling fan, I hope this isn't how you plan on doing it. I can tell you right now that this wouldn't pass the smell test in my home. No, sir.

11. This Toilet Install

Oh my goodness. This is probably the most creative way to install a toilet I have ever seen. I guess there's only one way to use it, and that would be to do number one. Good luck trying to do anything else here.

12. This Gutter Connection

If you have an issue with your gutters, you might want to go and take a look at them. I'm hoping you won't see what this looks like here because that spells total disaster to me.

13. This Ceiling Fan Install

When you call somebody to get a ceiling fan installed, I doubt this is what you would expect to see once the job is done, huh? Wow. This is the funniest thing I have seen in a while.

14. These Demo Experts

When you hire somebody to do a demo, you expect them to use some good techniques and tools, right? Well, I don't think it was the case here because they left quite a mess for the homeowner.

15. This Unfortunate Series Of Events

"Literally my first day on the job, and I shattered a customer's window. Kill me, thanks." Oh, no, I feel so bad for this poor Redditor. I bet if you work in construction, you can understand his pain too.

16. This Unexpected Flood

Word to the wise, when you work on something, make sure you first turn the water off, especially when you take off for the night. I guess somebody forgot that important fact here, huh? Nice! I'm being sarcastic, of course.

17. This Grass Killer

It looks to me like somebody made a huge boo-boo here. Instead of spraying weed 'n feed, they used the weed killer. Yikes! What do you think of the pattern they created? Looks interesting, huh?

18. This Literal Disaster

This is what happens when even your exhaust gives up on life. I'm just glad it didn't explode while somebody was in the room. This is probably the worst damage I have seen in a while.

Wow, these home renos definitely didn't go as planned.
