Some coincidences are too wild to be explained.
Some coincidences are too wild to be explained.
It seems to be the way of things: the second you're in a serious relationship/are financially stable/or reach a certain age (or some magical combination of all three), the questions about when you're having kids start to roll in.
The declarations of "I won't live forever!" and "I want to be young enough to enjoy them!" become pretty common refrains at all family gatherings. It's fine. It's... fine.
Marjorie Zarbaugh shared one of these such stories on Facebook, explaining that her mother had been pressuring her to have grandkids for a while. So much so that she began buying baby clothes for her years before she was even considering having children.
Her mother even went so far as to buy a “First Impressions” dress at Macy’s in 2011, holding onto it for SEVEN YEARS.
Zarbaugh eventually did decide to settle down and have a family and got pregnant. At the gender reveal party in May 2018 (she was having a girl!), her mother finally gifted her the dress.
Marjorie's daughter Madelynne was born on Sept. 9, 2018.
When she was sorting through baby clothes, she found the dress that her mom had given her at the gender reveal party and noticed something wild on the receipt.
She posted on Facebook, saying:
"This is too good not to share! My mom gave me a gift at our gender reveal party. She had bought this little dress years before hoping she’d have a granddaughter one day. I thought it was cool so I kept the tags on. Tonight I snapped this picture to remember it before cutting the tags off to wash the dress. When I sent the picture to my mom I noticed something, she bought this dress on Madelynn’s BIRTHDAY 7 years prior. How do you explain that! Tears, happy tears."
Sure, she had a 365/1 chance of this happening, so they aren't exactly Powerball odds, but it's still is a lovely little coincidence. Some things are just meant to be.
Obviously, this was meant to be, by Crom. The family is blessed, at least right now.
If anything, it is a memory that will last throughout the child's lifetime. It's just one of those fun stories that you keep around and remember. A cosmic coincidence.
And it certainly makes for great fodder in these trying times. Sure, the world is at odds with itself. People are ready to fight at any moment. And it would seem that the environment is ready to expel us from our homes.
But at least we have this stuff to help dampen it all.
